New album “STAY IN TOUCH” is now available. The album enters the German album charts at number 20!

SANDRA, who can look back on a magnificent music career spanning over 30 years, is still one of the most successful artists that Germany has ever produced: over 30 million records sold from 9 studio albums and 28 singles, all of which were very successful in the charts were, put them on a par with pop icons like Madonna, Kylie Minogue and Maria Carey in Europe.

To this day, SANDRA enjoys incredible and unbroken popularity, especially among her fans. Since October 26th, 2012 their new album “Stay in Touch” has been available worldwide on EMI. It was produced by Blank & Jones, who are also responsible for the A&R of this concept album. The songwriting was done by Jens Gad and Hubert Kah. For the first time since their joint successes in the 80s, Hubert Kah is responsible for backing, additional vocals and some compositions on all songs. The entire concept of the album was developed by Blank & Jones over the last 2 years and consciously reflects on SANDRA’s musical roots in the mid-80s.

“We really wanted to revive the magic of the hits from “Maria Magdalena” or “In The Heat Of The Nicht,” said Blank & Jones. “The first step was to get Hubert Kah back on board, because SANDRA and Hubert are “Unbeatable when singing together”. As the process progressed, SANDRA’s long-time musical companion Jens Gad began writing the songs. Blank & Jones: “Jens has an incredible talent for writing great pop songs. He implemented our 80s approach to the songs fantastically.”

After this team released the single “Maybe Tonight” in May 2012, they were hungry for more because the feedback from the fans was overwhelming. The fact that SANDRA is now releasing her new album on Virgin/EMI again after a partnership of over 28 years is mainly thanks to Manfred Rolef, who had the idea of bringing SANDRA together with Blank & Jones in 2010. Rolef had already expanded the so8os [so eighties] compilation series with Blank & Jones to include individual artists (Ultravox, OMD, Heaven 17 etc.) and knew about the producer team’s enthusiasm for 80s references.

Blank & Jones can look back on a long list of 80s icons with whom they have already collaborated. Starting with Robert Smith (The Cure), Bernard Sumner (New Order) through the Pet Shop Boys, Martin Fry (ABC) and Anne Clark to the current collaboration with Boy George on their new RELAX 7 album. Rolef: “Everything just fit together perfectly. Blank & Jones had been doing something with Hubert Kah on and off since 2003 and SANDRA was looking for new impulses. We organized a meeting with everyone involved in her studio in Ibiza and the magic was immediately noticeable from the first demo recording.” EMI managing director Wolfgang Hanebrink adds: “We are proud to have been able to accompany Sandra for such a long period of time and are pleased that that this creative team has found itself.”

And of course this album is something very special for SANDRA: “I immediately had a good gut feeling about the project. It fascinates me with how much passion Blank & Jones bring back the atmosphere and attitude to life of the 80s with the original sounds. When I finish listening to the new songs, it’s like an incomparably beautiful journey through time that I enjoy from start to finish.” The 50-year-old singer proudly sums up: “My 10th studio album reminds me of my first and most successful to date. The circle closes, also musically – thanks to the inspiring collaboration with Blank & Jones!”

SANDRA’s manager and husband Olaf Menges did everything he could to help make the recordings happen. “We really wanted to make this album and accepted a long production process because everyone involved is already incredibly successful on their own. It’s certainly the strongest SANDRA album in over 15 years!”
