ERUPTION – Precious Wilson

Sängerin Eruption in jungen Jahren mit langen Ohrringen
She made her big breakthrough with "I can't stand the rain".

Precious Wilson began her singing career as the lead singer of the group ERUPTION, who got their big break when they took part in a talent competition in London and won.

She covered the Ann Peebles classic “I can’t stand the rain” and scored her first international hit. The single stayed in the British charts for 11 weeks, reaching number 5, and the US Billboard reported position 16. This gigantic hit was followed shortly afterwards by “One Way Ticket” with similar success: 10 weeks in the UK charts and number 9 speak for themselves.

Ultimately, Precious decided on a solo career and released two extremely successful albums on Hansa/WEA that were released in Europe: “We are on the race track” and “All colored in love”.

Precious has had her own half-hour series on BBC television (“The Vocal Touch”) as well as a number of TV and live appearances in Western and Eastern Europe.

In the mid-eighties her single “I’ll be your friend” (Jive Records) was released, which clearly underlined her affiliation with the dance and soul world. Billboard listed the single in the Top 40 R&B charts. Precious followed this success with another when she sang the theme music for the blockbuster film of the same name, “The Jewl of the Nile” (with Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny Devito). This song was written by Britten & Lyle, who were also responsible for Tina Rurner’s super hit “What’s love got to do with it”.

In March 1988, Precious toured the USSR. She played at 55 concerts in front of over 15,000 spectators – with her own band. It was the first time ever that a colored artist from England undertook such an extensive tour of six Soviet republics. Here too, Precious once again proved her versatility and captivated the audience.

Since then she has been working on new material and also continued her own composing and writing, which she had already started with during her time with ERUPTION. She is currently signed to Savage Records and is eager to get involved in the current hit lists. At planned TV and radio appearances, she will present her new single “Maybe right for you”, which she co-wrote, to the public.

Her extraordinary voice and powerful, lively performances, supported by two excellent background singers, undoubtedly ensure that every performance is a success.

You’ll definitely come to the same conclusion when you see Precious Wilson on stage for the first time: It’s magic!
