“MY MOST CREATIVE AND PERSONAL RECORD SO FAR” – this is how Elli describes her new album “HUMAN”, which will be released in spring 2009.
With this album, the 30-year-old artist realizes, above all, her independence. At the end of 2008, Elli founded her own label 1773 Records and was able to break new ground in collaboration with her producer team from Florence / Alabama.
“I no longer just wanted to take part in an album production, I wanted to make my own album. I wanted it to be 150% ME!” and so HUMAN primarily shows Elli to people. Most of the songs are self-written and tell their stories. Elli played many instruments herself (guitar, piano, harmonica, accordion). Musically, Elli finds her very own style with HUMAN. Away from the overproduced, the record impresses with its rough edges, its versatility and its American folk-pop-rock sound.
The audible Nashville touch arose not least through collaboration with well-known American songwriters. Last year, between some US concerts, Elli met the musician Kristen Hall, who, among other things, wrote the Amanda Marshall hit “Let It Rain”, a song that has accompanied Elli since the beginning of her musical career. The meeting between the two was so light-hearted, refreshing, inspiring and motivating that they immediately began writing together. The result is the title “Run Away”, which can also be heard on Ellis’ new album HUMAN. “Working with Kristen was a great honor for me because I got into making music through Let It Rain. – And then the person who achieved this through his music sits next to you and writes a song with you, simply because he believes in you.”
The singer had similar experiences with US audiences during live performances: unbiased and enthusiastic. That’s why further appearances in the USA are planned for this year.
“Last year I was often in the USA to work on the songs with my producers and musicians. The most valuable experience was that I found my passion for music again through these people and the independent work on the album.”
