"He belongs to me!" was probably one of their most famous hits

The 70s

Marianne Rosenberg was the most successful of the German-speaking singers of the 1970s. At the age of 15, the Berlin native was discovered at a young talent competition and immediately scored a hit with her first single “Mr. Paul McCartney”. The first album “Fremder Mann” and regular TV appearances followed in 1971. In the mid-70s, the big hits “He belongs to me”, “I am like you” and “Marleen” were released. Marianne released 17 albums between 1971 and 1980 alone.

The 80s

At the beginning of the 80s she made it back into the single charts with cover versions such as “Ruf an” by Blondie and “Nur Sieger steh´n im Licht” by Abba. In 1982 she appeared – at the height of the “Neue Deutsche Welle” – with Kai Hawaii, singer of the group Extrabreit, as “Duo Infernal”. In 1984/85 M.R. in the films “Der Biß”, “Die Komplizin” and “Reichshauptstadt privat”, some of which she also composed the soundtracks for. In 1989 the album “Uns verbrennt die Nacht” was released, which also featured Rio Reiser and Inga Humpe, among others, and which again achieved “gold status”.

The 90s

After two more albums (“…and you can’t do anything about it” in 1991 and “Feuerrosen” in 1993), her first English-language album “Set the night on fire” was released in England in 1993. In 1995 Marianne started a big tour of Germany to support the live double album “5 Days and 5 Nights”. Two years later, she became the first German musician to present a song (“Männer”) exclusively and free of charge on the Internet and began her successful “All in White” tour. In 1998 she commuted back and forth between Berlin and California and finished work on the album “Luna” with producers Reinhold Heil and Stefan Fischer – a very important and partly very courageous album, which also provided the motto for the tour that followed shortly afterwards . In 1999 she released the chart single “When the Morning Comes” – a successful cover of Cher’s “Strong Enough”.

In the new millennium

Marianne makes her debut as a TV presenter and presents “Full Moon Nights” on “13th Street” – the Action & Suspence channel on Premiere World. Furthermore – how could it be otherwise – she is working on a new album with a new team of producers around Peter Hoffmann. “Himmlisch” was released in November 2000 – and reflects an approachable woman – far from the mysticism and flashy accessories of the 90s. In 2001, Marianne took on the title role in the Kurt Weill musical “Die Venus” (premiere in November 2001). The successful sidestep into a new genre encouraged Marianne to initially appear on a Berlin revue stage in March 2003 with her own production “Cocktails for Two” (jazz songs from the 40s, some of which she translated into “Berlin”) – and from that to develop the production “La Vie En Rose”, with which she was celebrated by fans and critics at many successful concerts in various German cities. At the same time she works with the producer Franz Plasa and artists such as Xavier Naidoo, Nena and Fettes Brot on interpretations of Reiser songs for a “Tribute To Rio Album”, which was released at the end of 2003.

The extremely diverse artist began the year 2004 with the production of a jazz and chanson album, for whose release fans unfortunately still have to wait. At the same time, she is working with a team of producers from London and a team from Berlin on a pop album in which, among other things, her greatest hits will be reinterpreted and produced. Mousse T. and the Söhne Mannheims also take part in this album “Forever Like Today”, which was released at the beginning of October 2004 and remained in the charts for weeks. At the same time, the first live DVD was recorded at a concert in Berlin on November 5th and went on sale in December 2004.

The spring of 2005 began with an appearance at “Wetten, dass…”, a nomination for Germany’s largest music award, the Echo, in the category “Best National Singer – Rock/Pop” and ended with the most successful German tour to date, which took place in almost… was sold out in all major cities.

In September 2006, an unusual biography of Marianne entitled “Kokolores” was published by List-Verlag, which attracted a lot of attention not only among fans.

The year 2007 is almost coming to an end, and the long-awaited jazz & chanson CD with the title “I’m a Woman” is finally being released – although for the time being only in a special fan edition, which is available exclusively through your own Internet shop is sold. A commercial release of this album and a concert series with a new jazz and chanson show will follow at the beginning of 2008.

2009 will once again be all about pop – at least on stage. But work on a new pop album also began a long time ago… and was completed at the end of 2010. Marianne has consistently developed her way of working. All the lyrics were written by her, and she composed all the songs with her partners. With the musician and producer Dirk Riegner, she was able to enter into a perfect and almost symbiotic working relationship during the song production, which influenced and shaped the new album “Regenrhythmus” (release February 25, 2011). Immediately after this release, Marianne starts a club tour with a small but fine band in order to present this extraordinary album live. Without her knowledge, three concerts are recorded by her team. The recordings are so impressive and genuine that Marianne happily agrees to release her first live album in a double pack with “Regenrhythmus” (release September 30, 2011) and gives another series of club concerts the following November.
